| Description | The Madonna and Child in Glory is tentatively attributed to the Ferrarese painter Carlo Bononi (1569-1632). His early style was formed in the Ferrarese School of Dossi, but his more mature work shows the influence of Ludovico Carracci and Correggio. His most important commission was the frescoes of Santa Maria in Vado, Ferrara, in 1617-1620/1. In about 1620 he met Guercino who deeply influenced him. The facial features in the Madonna correspond with those often seen in Bononi's work, and possibly this small work could be attributed to his circle. |
